Jeff Bartos on Principles & Values

Marxists are trying to divide us by race

Critical race theory--"Marxists for 100 years attempted to divide Americans by class. But America was founded on an entrepreneurial spirit, we've always rooted for the little guy to become the big guy. That didn't work, now they're trying to divide us by race," he said.

Disturbed by Jan. 6 violence, but gave $1000 for bus to DC

Q: On the Capitol Insurrection?

Bartos: "I was very disturbed by what I saw on Jan. 6," Bartos said. Bartos did contribute $1,000 to bus people to what turned into a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Q: As far as you know, were any of the people on that bus involved in any of the illegal activities that took place?

Bartos: I have no knowledge. I sent a contribution to the gentleman who was organizing it because I feel he's done great work over the last five years that I've known him.

COVID: Provided forgivable loans to small businesses

In the 2018 campaign cycle, Jeff Bartos was the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Since 2018, Jeff has returned to running his businesses and creating family-sustaining jobs in Pennsylvania. More recently, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff founded the Pennsylvania 30 Day Fund, a nonprofit providing forgivable loans to small businesses affected by COVID-19 and the related business shutdowns that have devastated Main Street small businesses.

People just need government to get out of the way

I haven't heard anybody say to me, "I want the government to do X--I really need this from the government." What I've heard is, "I just need the government to get out of my way, trust me to run my business, trust me to take care of my employees and my family, trust me to be a good part of the community, just trust me and I will do right." Our campaign is going to be fighting for all Pennsylvanians to get the government out of the way so that they can live their lives.

Matters to me that I'm Jewish, not to average voter

So, does it matter to the average Pennsylvania voter that I'm a Jewish candidate in light of what happened at the Tree of Life? No, I don't think so. But it matters deeply to me. And, of course, I'll be representing all Pennsylvanians. But I want to show, as part of this campaign, we're going to be bringing a terrific coalition together that, I think, is going to surprise people, and certainly, when I'm in Pittsburgh, with the Jewish community and with the overall community out in Pittsburgh,
